Where are you from?
Originally from Philadelphia, I moved to the Lehigh valley at the age of 6.
Which location(s) do you work at?
Emmaus
How long have you been in the massage therapy field?
I’ve been a Licensed Massage Therapist since February 2016.
Why did you decide to do therapeutic massage?
I grew up with a single mom who worked hard and always asked me to massage her back and neck. I can remember being in preschool and massaging my teachers shoulders . It’s something I always liked doing since a young age so when I was 32, I decided to go to massage school and completely change my career path. I’m so glad I made that choice!
What’s the biggest myth about therapeutic massage that you like to address?
Biggest myth would be that “my hands must hurt “.. actually it’s not my hands that hurt after I work but rather my neck or shoulders may be sore. This is due to the body mechanics and weight distribution needed for this occupation.
What is your favorite modality or service to offer and why?
My favorite modalities would be trigger point therapy and neuromuscular therapy. I love when I can release a client’s trigger points and see how quick they benefit and leave in less pain or no pain. I love neuromuscular therapy because it entails the skeletal system and muscular system. Increased range of motion is immediate after a session.
What type of clientele do you like to work with?
I particularly like working on a client’s upper back, shoulders and neck. I love being able to help a client by using my own energy. I use my intuition when working, allowing myself to feel what the client feels while I work.
Favorite thing to do when not in the office?
While not at work, I enjoy spending time with my two children Haley and MJ. Being a mom is my greatest accomplishment before my awesome choice of career. We like the outdoors a lot and typically have scavenger hunts and fly kites on a great windy day.
What book are you reading or listening to right now?
Two amazing books are “The Seat of the Soul” and “The Four Agreements .” They are the two books that I would say changed my perspective on life itself.
